Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

A few weeks ago we decided to have spaghetti for dinner....I have been talking about trying to make my own sauce, so I thought yes today I want to give it a try. So, I started looking around to see if I could find a recipe that we both would enjoy. I came across one that sounded pretty good. I followed step by step recipe but then after having it we decided to change up and add some things. The second time around came out prefect! I was very pleased with this sauce and it had good flavor. I think I will continue to make this sauce and maybe add more things as we go along.

This is the recipe the first time around:
Ingredients:
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1/2 small onion, chopped
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tsp crushed garlic
  • 1-28 oz can peeled & diced tomatoes
  • 4 tsps dried basil
  • 4 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp white sugar
This is the recipe the 2nd go around (This is the we added and took stuff away from):
Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1/2 small onion, chopped
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tsp crushed garlic
  • 1-14.5 oz can Tomato Sauce
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp white sugar
Directions:
  1. In large sauce pan heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Saute onions, green onions and garlic.
  3. When onions are clear, stir in the tomato sauce and all the seasonings.
  4. Bring to boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.
This was from the first try at the sauce. It was okay and I just didn't like all the chunky tomatoes in the sauce.
This was the 2nd try and it turned out great! Looking forward to making this again soon.

Pizza & Movie Night

About a month or so ago Shane and I decided to make every Thursday Pizza and Movie night. We sometimes order pizza out or make it at home. The past couple weeks Shane has been making his own pizza dough and making us homemade pizza. It has been really good and every week it gets better! This week so far was by far the best pizza yet!
We didn't get to watch a movie tonight because Netflix was acting up, so we decided to watch some of our recorded shows, CSI and Vampire Dairies. Next week we will try for the movie again!

Here are some pictures of our yummy pizza!! We ate the whole thing! It was pepperoni and bacon.

I think I'm going to try and start posting about pizza/movie each week so everyone can see our yummy pizza we get or make and what movie we decide to watch! Stay tuned for next week.

10 Days 10 Things - Day Two

Days 2  is all about my favorite foods!

1. Hot Wings....This is one my of my weaknesses. I LOVE hot wings and could just eat them all the time. There are a few favorite restaurants that I just love to eat wing at, I would prolly have to say Hooters is my favorite place.

2. Pizza...I love me some good pizza! We have a little pizza place down the street from us that we do love. We don't eat there a whole lot but it's some delicious pizza.

3. Tacos...Mexican tacos I love! Mexican is my favorite food and I could eat it everyday and never get sick of it. Margarita's is my all time favorite restaurant to eat at. We had them cater our wedding, yes that's how much I love that place.

4. Shrimp...All I used to eat before was popcorn shrimp. I used to think all other shrimp was gross. Well when I meet Shane that all changed...He made shrimp boil one night for dinner and I just loved it! So now I like all kinds of different shrimp. Shrimp Boil I will say is my favorite right now.

5. Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich...Love these!! That's all I need to say

6. White Chili...I love chili when it starts getting cold outside. I will make this about once a week in the winter time. I never heard of White Chili till I meet Shane. I thought it was weird at first but now that I make it a lot I love it!

7. Tootsie Rolls...I know this isn't a food, but I do love me some Tootsie rolls. I forgot how much I really did like them until I bought some over the weekend and I have almost ate the whole bag. Eeek that's bad but oh well they are yummy!

8. Pickles...I love me some pickles. I have to eat at least 2 at a time. HaHa!

9.Breakfast...I love breakfast foods. We eat breakfast a lot for dinner. Some weekends I will wake up and make a full breakfast bacon, eggs, hash browns, toast. Yum love breakfast foods!

10. Ribs...I guess I should say only Shane's Ribs.LOL. Once my hubby started smoking ribs all the time and get really good at it I learned to like them. During the warm season he likes to smoke meat as much as he can. Right now his are the only ones that I can stand to eat and they are delicious!

Well now I can say I'm hungry for everything on this list! LOL

I Feel Fall Coming.....

I'm so glad the heat has decided to leave us and bring on this cooler weather. I'm loving it!! The windows opened in the evening, walks at night and the smell of crisp fresh air. Awe Fall Time. Kira and I have definitely been enjoying walks more that we can stand to be outside. It's been wonderful walking every night after work and not sweating and just enjoying this cool weather. With fall finally coming I'm ready to get our house smelling like it....Last weekend at the store I got some pumpkin spice candles and I can't wait to get more fall scents this weekend to put up in the house. I love the smell of fall. I'm also thinking of decorating more this year but we will see if I make that happen. Fall may now be my favorite season, I love it!!!

The candles I got from the store. Pumpkin Spice they smell delicious!

Kira loves when the windows are opened....She just lays on the couch and looks out the window. She has tried to claw her way out once b/c she wanted something. Little Brat. HaHa!
The back door is her spot as well but she usually lays on the floor looking like a frog. :)
And of course you can't have nice weather without the husband doing a little grilling.
The chicken is all ready to go one.
Our dinner tonight....Chicken Legs, Corn, Noodles & Garlic Bread

I hope everyone has been enjoying this nice weather as much as I am! I'm looking forward to this weekend as well with nice weather. I will be outside as much as I can.....and you can beat I will be taking pictures of whatever I can find. ;)
