Landscaping

I know it's been awhile since I posted about our house but I have been side tracked and being lazy about blogging. I need to get on it I have lots I want to post about. LOL

After we got all settled with moving in we decided to tackle some little landscaping projects.
The first project we did was making the tree look nicer under it.

(Before) - We did the tree project over 2 nights during the week. It was still a little warm outside but we sucked it up and got busy making our yard look nice. Well besides the grass that is dead in the pictures. LOL

(After) - This is how our tree turned out and I just love it. It makes it look so much nicer. I got the solar lights on sale at Target. They aren't super bright at nice but it gives enough off just to show off. :)

(Before) - The next project Shane really wanted done was putting a flag pole in the front. We also knocked this out over a couple nights work throughout the week.

(After) - Here is our wonderful flag pole. I love it!! It looks so good in front of the house and perfect for the spot we picked to put it. Now we just need to find some spot lights to put up so we don't have to keep taking the flag down every night.

We have one more big project we want tackle in the front and it will be complete. We have decided to wait until the Spring to do this one. So once it's all done and ready to show off I will be posting about it!

I mentioned that our grass was dead in these pictures...Well I'm pleased to say that our grass has come back nicely in most spots and is green. We did decide to seed the yard this fall to hopefully get all the brown patches gone and everything green! Sunday we seeded the backyard and tonight we did the front yard and put the fertilizer down all over, so now we just need to start watering it and hope it grows nicely. LOL Wish us luck on our first try ever to grow grass. Haha!

House Tour: Formal Living Room

Welcome to the Formal Living Room. When we moved in we didn't have furniture to fill this room...We aren't sure what we want to do with this room or how we want to decorate it. So right now it's just a room we keep some stuff in LOL. One day we might decide to make this another living area but as of now it's nothing. :) I try to keep it clean so we don't just put stuff in there and it gets cluttered.

This wall is to the left when you walk in the front door. We decided this would be a prefect place to put a memorial of Shane's mom. I made the frame after his mom passed, I made everyone in the family one. They turned out cute. We bought the shelf, candle holders and table. We got the table at NFM. I think it goes prefect on that wall. I'm very happy the way this wall turned out!

This ends the house tour! I hope you enjoyed it.
Tomorrow I will post about the landscaping we have done so far....Stay turned!

House Tour: Master Bed & Bath

The tour today is on the Master Bedroom and Bath.

(Before) - Just plain old white again.

(After) - We painted the bedroom a Mossy Green. I wasn't sure I would like this color when we picked it out at the store but after we got the sample on the wall it looked great! Now that it's all done I really love it. I do wish the trim was white instead of wood but maybe one day in the future we can change it!

This is one view of our bedroom. We had a headboard we need to put on our bed.
I really like this color with our bedroom furniture it looks really good together!

 Another angel of the bedroom.

(Before) - This was the awful color in the master bath when we looked at the house. I was like this HAS to go!

(After) - This bathroom was painted a Khaki Green. I'm glad this was one of the last rooms we did because if we would have started here I wouldn't have painted anything else. LOL. Trying to cover up that dark navy color was crazy! Shane painted this bathroom then I had to go back put a 2nd coat on it b/c you could still see the navy through it. Nuts I tell you! But it's done now and I like it turned out great!

Tomorrow will conclude the house tour with a look at the formal living area.

House Tour: Bedrooms

It's been a few days since I last posted  stuff on our house. When the weekend came we were busy and I kinda just put it off. But now that the work week is back let's continue the tour!

Today I'm going to show you our extra bedrooms in the house.
We didn't paint either of these rooms yet...but painting them is in the near future!

This is the Spare Room for when we have guest sleepover. We are going to take down the wallpaper and get this room painted. Hopefully soon.

This is the 3rd bedroom and this is MY room. My craft/photography room. I just love it. I do want to paint this room but I haven't decided what I want to do with it so it's on hold till I can figure it out. Maybe next year I will have to narrowed down and can paint it. We shall see.

This is just another angel of the room.
Just another angel in my room.

That ends the bedrooms...Tomorrow I will post our Master Bedroom and Bath! Stay Tuned....

House Tour: Kitchen/Dining Room

The kitchen was the last room we painted. It was a big chore getting this painted because we did the kitchen and the hallway upstairs the same color. I had to work half day when it was time to paint the kitchen. Shane got up when I went to work and headed over to get started, he had a lot done when I got there so I got busy to finish helping him. We had to work hard to get the kitchen done in one day because this was the day our dining room table was being delivered. But don't worry we finished in no time!

The kitchen again was just plain old white.

It was between 2 colors that we liked for the kitchen. After putting them on the wall we decided on Mid Day Mocha. It turned out to be a great color. And it was perfect for our wine theme that we were doing. :)

The finished picture! I love our dining room. I love sitting there now and eating dinner with my hubby. It's so nice to have a table to eat at.

The bare kitchen before I unpacked everything.

And finished. It took a little while to put everything up. We had much more cabinets here then the town home, so it was kinda overwhelming trying to find places for everything and making sure it was perfect! LOL

When we had our house inspection the guy said he did you see this...And he touched this thing under the cabinets and tada there were lights under there! It was so cool! No all the cabinets have lights but one day soon they will. I just love the lights under there it so fun and cool looking. :)

Stay tuned..still more to come!

House Tour: Bathrooms

The next tour of our house is the half bath and the 2nd bath. The master bath will be shared with the master bedroom post.

The half bath was also painted the same night as the Family Room. The bathroom was just plain old boring white. We are were sick of white walls in our house since for the past however many years that's all we have lived with. We were ready for some color in our life! This bathroom is located right off the family room. Very nice so you don't have to walk upstairs when you have to use the bathroom. :)

We decided to paint this room a Soft Blueberry. It turned out so good, I love it!

We put a vanilla rug in there by the sink. I still need to get one for around the toilet but every time I try and go to buy it they don't have it. Boo! One day I will get it. LOL. When we painted this room we had not thought of making this like an ocean bathroom but after it got done it just reminder me of the ocean. We decided to go with that theme and we got soap and candles to go with theme. We also hung up some pictures that I took when we went to Mexico. I love how this room turned out. We also replaced the mirror above the sink with a black one instead of gold. Black goes much better ;)

This is the 2nd bathroom and is located upstairs. We decided not to paint this room because the color in there already we liked and it went with the decorating items we bought.

This picture is located on the wall behind the door. I found a cute little tree candle holder that I think will look cute next to this picture, but I haven't decided on weather the get it or not....

And this ends another short tour of our home...Stay tuned for more to come!

House Tour: Family Room

I decided to stay home from work today because my poor doggie isn't feeling well. She had me up almost every hour from 3:30am till about 7am. I felt so bad for her and I didn't want her staying in her kennel getting sick and stuff. That would be no fun. I hope she starts feeling better soon! Since I stayed home and now I have some free time...I decided it's time to start posting pictures of our house the before and after! I think I'm going to do this room by room so there aren't a ton of pictures in one post.

So let's start with the Family Room. This was the first room we painted after we got the keys. I was so excited to get started painting so we could get everything moved it. :) The day we decided to paint this room was the Saturday after we closed and Shane had to work. I decided there was no need to sit around while he works so I headed over to the house and got busy with cleaning the walls and starting taping stuff off. So once he got off and to the house we could get busy on painting. We had a couple friends come over that evening and help with this room and we ordered pizza and had beer. What else could you ask for when painting. LOL :)

(Before) - The family room started out a blue color....

(After) - We painted it a Driftwood Grey.

And here is the family room once everything is moved in! I think it turned out good and I love it. I really had a good time making sure everything was set up nice and looked good. We didn't really have to buy much for this room. We bought a corner shelf, DVD tower (which you can't see), Rugs, Pillows for the couch and some pictures I believe that's all we needed to make this room complete.

If you notice the dog on the love seat. That is her spot to be lazy. LOL. I tried putting her bed by the fireplace but she would never sleep on it she always went to the love seat. This was her spot at the old home and her spot now at the new home. She also has another favorite spot which is on the couch behind where Shane sits. It's so funny when she is super sleepy and is up there she starts snoring in his ear. Love it!

We are Officially Homeowners!!!

I know I have been MIA from blogging lately. We have had so much going on with packing, closing on our house and getting the new house all ready and moved in.

I'm very happy to say we ended up closing on our house 5 days earlier then we thought! We were so excited and couldn't wait to get into our new home. The day of signing was July 26th. It wasn't as bad as people made it out to be, it took us about an hour to sign all the paperwork and call it ours!
After we signed we headed over to the house to celebrate and have some wine. We had a couple of our friends meet us there to share the wonderful moment!

We couldn't wait to get into our home and have it all set up so we started painting right away. That Saturday the 28th we started right in trying to get stuff done. We got 2 rooms done that day/night the living room and half bath. We worked all weekend on our house and it was so fun and I couldn't be more happy to do it!
We ended up taking off work from July 31st through August 13th to paint, move and get settled. We got everything painted and moved in by I would say Thursday the 2nd. We have everything pretty much set up like we want it. There are a couple rooms that aren't done yet, (1) is the spare bedroom and the other is my craft/photography room, so nothing major and we can take our time on those. I will be getting a new desk so once my desk is in and set up I will start getting my room set up!

I have pictures of our house before and after we painted so I will be posting those once my room and pictures are workable. :)

The last part of our time off we went to Arkansas for the weekend with another couple. It was just a little vacation to get away. We rented a cabin on top of the mountains and just hung out all weekend. It was so nice and no one around us! I will post more about our trip later with pictures.

We are now back to work and getting back to our normal routine. :)

2 weeks To Go....

The day is arriving slowly but surely!! Today marks exactly 2 weeks till we get to close on our very first house! We both are so excited about this and can't wait. We are getting so antsy awaiting the day to come!
I have been slowly getting our house packed up and we have boxes everywhere. We are are getting cramped with all the boxes stacked up in our dining room. LOL. Normally I would be freaking out b/c of so much stuff in one room but right now I don't care b/c I know we will be in our house very shortly!

I have been very busy lately with the house move coming up, Wedding pictures to edit and I did a birthday shoot last Saturday so I have those to edit as well. My plan to have all the pictures done by the time we close so I won't have to worry about them while we are trying to move!
So if I become MIA for awhile it's b/c I'm trying to get everything done before July 31st! I'm hoping I can the wedding pictures done by the end of this week. The birthday pictures shouldn't take but a couple of days to go through once I get started on them!

Wish my luck on getting everything ready to go! :)

Count Down to Closing Day....

Can you believe it's already July!!! I couldn't have wished this month any faster...why you ask....This month we will be closing on our house!! We both are very excited and can't wait to move it and make it our place together. We will be closing July 31st and that day can't get here fast enough.
Friday evening we drove by our house and it finally had the SOLD sign on it. We were so happy to see that. Of course I was so exciting and giddy that I forgot to take a picture of it. But don't worry I'm sure we will be buy again and I will take one.

Shane and I have been so excited that we found our house! We can't wait to move in and get settled. I'm anxious to see how the dog acts in the backyard since she will be able to go out without a leash. Hopefully she will be excited and run out here energy. LOL

We have been doing some shopping for the house. We both have gotten the shopping bug and have been shopping like every weekend. Weather we buy something or not we still like to go out and see what we want. I have many wish list going of stuff we want for the house. :) We did buy a couple big items that he will need, well I guess 1 was given to us by my grandpa and that was a lawn mower, the other thing he got was a weed eater.  Now he is set and ready to start taking care of our lawn (well of course when it decides to grow again and not be dead) Haha. We also got some other things for the house. I'm going to try and see if I can post everything we got for decorating that house later. I just love all the new stuff we got and can't wait to have it all put up in the house!

We have been counting down the days on our phone!! Since this day is almost over I'm going to go ahead and put up the days left as of tomorrow!!

Weekend Recap

It's time for another weekend recap....I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the nice weather outside. The weekends just seem to go by so fast for me. I always want an extra day. LOL

Friday: After work we meet up with some friends to go have dinner and drinks at Frontera's. It's a very good Mexican restaurant that we tried a few weeks ago and liked. So we wanted to go back and have more! After dinner we all headed back to our place to hang out. We ended up playing Rock Band for hours into the nigth and it was pretty fun. It was the first time we had all 4 of us playing at the same time. We had the drums, bass, guitar and singer. It was a great time I looked forwarded to doing it again.

Saturday: This was Shane's Saturday to work from 9-3pm. So I decided to go to the pool with a friend while he was working. It was a great afternoon at the pool the water was cold but we braved it and got all the way in! LOL. I just love hanging out at the pool and doing nothing. :) I look forward to more days like that this summer. When I got home from swimming Shane was all ready to go out and do some shopping for the new house. So I hurried and got changed and we headed out to Home Depot and Bed Bath & Beyond. We got lots of goodies for the house. He got tools and I got decorated stuff for the Master Bath, 2nd Bath and a new rug for the family room. It was a good day of shopping and I'm looking forward to more! After shopping it was too late to cook out like I had planned so we just stopped at Five Guys and grab some dinner.

Sunday: I hope all the dad's out there had a wonderful day. Shane and I had a couple of errands to run in the morning after that we just hung out at home till it was time to head to his dad's house. That evening we headed over to his dad's house to cook him dinner and hang out. We had Fish, Red Potatoes, Corn and Bread. It was a wondeful dinner!

I hope everyone has a good work week ahead!

Inspection Time...

The next step in our house buying process is getting the inspections done. There are 3 inspections we needed to have done The whole house, chimney and termites.

Monday morning at 9am we had our whole house inspection. I was very nervous about this inspection. Our inspection guy was really nice and deatiled about evertying. The inspection went pretty well. Nothing major is wrong with the house just some little repairs and safety items that need to be done. Nothing that is going to scare us away. LOL. I mean every house is going to have stuff wrong with it weather it be big items or just some little stuff that doesn't take much to fix. There was one major concern during the inspection, which was the AC unit. It wasn't working correctly the air coming out wasn't as cool as it should be. We learned yesterday that AC unit has been repaired and is working now. So that was a plus and one thing off the list we need to ask for. We won't be worry about this for now. We got lucky with only finding little items that needed to be take care of. I felt so much better after this inspection.

We had our last 2 inspections yesterday at 3:00pm. The termite guy was finished by the time we got to the house. He did find termites outside under the chimney area but that's the only place. So we are definitely going to be asking for the seller to treat them.
We also had the chimney done too and there's nothing wrong it. So that is a good thing!

We are meeting with the realtor tonight to go over everything and write up the stuff we want done before mvoing in. So we will see what the seller comes back with.

Wish us luck now more waiting, Fun fun! LOL

I still feel pretty good about our house and buying it! I can't wait to get this last part of waiting from the seller done then we will just be waiting to move in! We are so ready to be in our house. :)

Our first Dining Room Table!

As many of you know when buying a house comes all the fun items you have to buy to go in it. So last night I wanted to go shopping to get an idea of what style and price on dining room tables. We headed out after Shane got home from work to Furniture Deals. We got our living room set that and we loved it and got it for a good price so we went back for the table.
The idea of tonight was NOT to buy anything but to look around and get ideas for when we were ready to purchase. But that's not exactly how our night played out....We got there and started looking around and we found one that we both liked. We started looking at the price so we had an idea of what we were going to pay and noticed the table was pretty half price and the sale ended Monday plus an extra 10% off the sale price. So it was an awesome deal! Shane and I walked around a little more and talked about what we should do and we both decided that we should buy it now! Only because in the long run we would be saving ourselves about $800 with buying it now rather then waiting and it not be on sale.
We are both very happy about our table and can't wait to use. I think we made the right decision on buying now! So we now officially have our very first dining room table!! I'm so exciting to eat on it. hehe

This is the picture off the website. This table is an extension table so it sets 8 people. We got the everything table, extension and 8 chairs.

It's Official!!!

Thursday night we went back and looked at house #7 that we both really liked. We still loved the house and we decided to put in an offer that night. Later that night we meet with the Realtor and got our offer wrote up. It was so exciting and I was so nervous. He said we should hear something back within 24-48 hours. Friday at work I was mess thinking about the house and if they were going to except our offer or not. We were heading to dinner Friday night and we got the call saying the seller came back with a counter offer, so we countered them back and now we were just waiting to hear back. It was about an hour or so later and Shane had left to go pick up something. I was sitting at home going crazy waiting for an answer. Shane came home and he says are you still going crazy, I was like are you kidding me yes, he says well you shouldn't be anymore we just bought a house they accepted our offer. I was so excited I jumped off the couch and into his arms and started crying. This was so exciting and I couldn't believe it was actually happening. :) Now we just have to get through inspection and we will be in the clear!

SO IT'S OFFICIAL WE ARE UNDER CONTRACT ON OUR FIRST HOUSE!!!!

Here is the link to see more pictures of  our houseOur House.

I will keep everyone updated on our process through buying our house!
We both are super exciting and can't wait to be in our first house!
